The NuvaLoan Story
NuvaLoan began with a simple frustration: people needing a few hundred or a few thousand dollars had to repeat the same application on site after site, with little clarity about cost.
Our founding team came from consumer lending operations, customer support, and software. Between them, they had spent years watching capable, careful people get worn down by the search for a small loan. Someone with a $900 brake job or a $2,400 dental bill would fill in form after form, often get no reply, and eventually accept whatever arrived first.
The idea was to replace that scramble with one clear request. A borrower would describe what they needed once, lenders that could work with them would respond, and the borrower would compare offers with the facts laid out plainly. That idea became NuvaLoan, and around 72,000 customers have used it since.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make it easier and safer for people to find a small personal loan that fits their budget, and to help them understand the cost before they commit.
Easier means a short form, plain language, and no need to visit a dozen websites. Safer means clear disclosures, careful handling of personal data, and steady reminders that borrowing is a choice, not a requirement.
We measure ourselves partly by feedback. People have rated the experience 4.4 out of 5 across 6,480 ratings, and we read the lower scores closely because they show us where the process still feels confusing or slow.
How NuvaLoan Earns Money
NuvaLoan is free for borrowers; lenders in our network compensate us for the requests we route to them, which is how we pay for the service.
That compensation does not add to what you owe. The cost of any loan is set by the lender and shown in its offer and agreement. You never pay NuvaLoan to submit a request, view offers, or accept one.
Because we are paid by lenders, we think it is important to say so plainly. Our advertiser disclosure explains how compensation works and how it may affect which lenders appear or the order in which offers are shown.
What NuvaLoan Is Not
NuvaLoan is not a lender, does not make loan decisions, and does not set rates, terms, or fees.
Every credit decision is made by the lender that reviews your request. That lender decides whether to offer, how much, at what APR, and over what term. Across the network, APRs range from 5.99% to 35.99% and terms typically run 3 to 36 months, but those figures come from lenders, not from us.
We also do not service loans. Once you accept an offer, your payments, statements, and account questions go to the lender. We are glad to explain the process at any stage, and our step-by-step explanation of the process shows exactly where our role ends.
The Principles We Work By
Three principles guide our decisions: clear disclosures, careful data handling, and encouraging responsible borrowing.
Clear disclosures
We show costs in real numbers. For example, a $2,000 loan repaid over 12 months at 24.99% APR works out to 12 payments of about $190.08 and about $2,280.94 repaid in total, including about $280.94 in interest. We label that as a representative estimate, because actual offers differ. Our compliance lead reviews how rates, terms, and fees are described across the site so the language stays accurate.
Data care
A loan request contains sensitive information. We encrypt it in transit, limit who inside our team can see it, and share it only with lenders and partners involved in handling your request. The details are set out in our privacy policy.
Responsible borrowing
We would rather you borrow $800 you can repay comfortably than $3,000 that strains every month. Throughout the site we encourage people to request only what they need, compare total cost, and consider alternatives such as a provider payment plan before taking on debt.
Who We Serve
We serve adults in the US who need between $500 and $5,000 for a specific expense and want to see what lenders can offer before deciding.
Many of the people we hear from are handling something they did not plan for: a car repair that stands between them and their job, a water heater that failed overnight, a medical bill due within weeks, or a few card balances they would like to roll into one payment. Some have strong credit; many are rebuilding it.
Lenders generally look for applicants who are 18 or older (19 in Alabama and Nebraska), have a valid SSN, a steady income, and an active checking account in their own name. The service is not available in every state, and no one can promise approval, but we aim to give every request a fair path to the lenders most likely to respond.
How We Keep Ourselves Accountable
We keep ourselves accountable by reviewing complaints, testing our own process as borrowers would, and correcting anything on the site that is unclear or out of date.
Our support team logs every question that comes in, and patterns become work for the rest of us. If several people ask what a soft credit inquiry is, that is a sign the explanation needs to be clearer, so we rewrite it.
We also walk through the request ourselves on different devices and connection speeds, to feel the process the way a borrower on a phone during a lunch break would. When something takes longer than it should, we fix it.
